This game is sick! (30 May 2010)
There's nothing you can do in real life that you can't do in this game. Actually, you can even do more in this game, than you can in real life. Where else than GTA can you destroy an entire city and get away with it. Where else than GTA can you spawn a police helicopter, then jump out of it at 1000 feet, land in (what seems to be) Hudson River and walk away like nothing happened. Or you can just buy some new clothes and go bowling if you like. You find yourself in Liberty City, which is actually a copy of New York City (Liberty City = New York City, Broker Bridge = Brooklyn Bridge etc.). Splendid graphics and gameplay. Don't buy this if you don't want the thrill of your life.

(Funny little detail with "Oxygene (Part IV)" by Jean-Michel Jarre playing on radio station "Journey"):-)

  GTA 4 (17 May 2010)
When I first started playing this game, I admit I didn't really get into it. I just didn't feel like it was on the same level as the likes of the others in the series. It was still good but not great which I expect the GTA series to be. However, after playing in a good couple of hours and getting off the first island, the story and gameplay really started picking up and after just completing it I'm left with the feeling that it's up there with the best in the series if not higher.

Plot: You play an immigrant getting off a boat to start life in America. You then work your way up from the lowest of the low to up there with the big time people. Like most GTA games I know but with the twists and turns throughout the game, the story never gets old.

Graphics: Just wow. From the rain hammering down while the leaves are blown around in it to the bullet holes and blood stains on the car, it was like watching a movie sometimes. Especially when switching to cinematic view while driving around the streets.

Sound: Everyone has a different voice. I know most people take it for granted nowadays but you still get some games that just have the same guy time after time talking for all the characters which in my opinion doesn't really help the story around. Every sound is very realistic too and the little touches like people chatting on the streets to each other while going past them really add to the whole experience.

Controls: They are quite a bit different to the usual GTA controls and to begin with I couldn't get to grips with them. However, once you stick with it, you will end up actually liking these controls better then the old one. They just make it so much easier to get around. Another thing that I think is worth of putting in the controls section is the car handling. The cars are alot heavier and different cars drive differently to each other. Not just in speed but in braking, turning etc. Quite a difference to the wood like driving of the previous games and a welcome addition in my opinion.

Lifespan: The game took me just under 40 hours doing the main mission alone. You could probably knock off up to 15 hours off that time as I took my time completing it. If you add the extra side missions to it, I reckon you could get a game of 60 hours if not more.

Overall: True it has it's problems like the long restart of a mission if you mess up but it has so many great qualities too like the addition of playing stealth like hiding behind boxes etc and the depth to the story. So all in all it's a great addition to the GTA family and I shall look forward to playing Liberty City Stories.
