| | Customer Reviews: Supreme enjoyment, one complaint (05 July 2010)Having been on the beta for C&C4, and having seen the final release, I was looking for something that would be playable and found Supreme Commander 2. It is superb. Now, to put this into perspective I play mainly skirmish games against friends on a LAN and this is where my only complaint comes in. To play a multiplayer skirmish requires internet gameplay which increases latency quite a bit, there is no way 2 computers 4 feet apart have 32ms latency. This does slow down the play a little but I can live with it and I am not reducing the star rating because of it. The units are powerful without being overly so, the upgrade path can be accelerated, and you can build up quite a reasonable defensive and offensive force in a modest amount of time. But be warned, you need a LOT of antinukes as the enemy will chain nuke you with several nukes at a time from multiple silos, your nukes WILL be taken out by their antinukes unless you build a LOT of them and swamp their defenses (I have seen 20 nukes taken out before now) The AI is devious, aggressive, but has a couple of weaknesses, if you destroy them back to their ACU (Armored Command Unit) sometimes they just won't reset and build back up, it's not uncommon for them to wander in circles. But since the aim is to destroy them, it's not a major problem. The maps are a little small, with 4v4 being the largest option, but if they bring out more maps then it will be an improvement on a game that already puts EA Games' Command & Conquer 4 to shame. Steam lets it down (30 June 2010)Unfortunatly like most modern PC games Supreme Comander 2 has to be installed and downloaded with ''Steam'' which is a major let down. I waited 2 days in order to install and download the game,which begs the question what is the point in buying the disc? Once installed the game was fine and i would reccomend it, the graphics are sharp, the gameplay is good but the story needs improving with some awful acting at parts. What a disaster... (12 June 2010)ive no idea how they got this game so wrong... You've got Chris Taylor who has made awesome titles like total annihilation and supreme comander FA so they have the coding and framework to make a fantastic sequel. What the hell were they thinking when they were producing it??!? It is a hugely cut down version of its predecessors with only a handful of units which destroys the tactical creativiy and my biggest gripe is not being able to build units and sturctures unless you have the resources!! With your engineers you cannot plan your base by queing up construction elements unless you have the money to pay for them all!!! what a stupid stupid idea. The storyline sucks, and cut scenes are laughably crap. Im not even gonna bother writing any more cos this game is no way near as good as the original. I would say its good for kids but if you are a serious fan of SC1 then you will be gutted. Pointless (18 May 2010)I loved the original and FA. One of the best RTS games ever. This one is pointless. All the time taken and it is inferior to the original. Cynical grab at our money or cut down for the consoles. I am not sure but, keep your money or buy the original. They don't deserve the cash or the loyalty of fans. Excellent refreshing graphics and change over Command Conquer Generals/3 (08 May 2010)A very different game but challenging and rewarding nevertheless. NO RTS freak should live without this game if you have a fast enough pc. |
